Jean-Louis Agobet at Festival Aspects in Caen
Composer Jean-Louis Agobet will be featured at the 28th edition of the festival Aspects in the french town Caen. Prominent predecessors were highly acclaimed composers such as Berio, Ligeti or Eötvös. This year sixteen works by Jean-Louis Agobet will be performed between March 12 and 21. On march 19 the world premiere of his cello concerto takes place with soloist Xavier Phillips accompanied by the Orchestre de Caen under the baton of Hans Leenders.
Jean-Louis Agobet, who was born in the french town Blois, studied music theory and composition in Nizza, Aix-en-Provence and Lyon. Furthermore, he occupied himself with electronic composition and visited courses directed by Luigi Nono. Agobet was composer in residence at different institutions e.g. at the Villa Medici in Rome and the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. His works are performed worldwide by renowned orchestras and soloists like the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Ensemble intercontemporain, Michel Portal and Steven Isserlis. In September 2006 Agobet was honoured by the SACEM with the Prix Claude Arrieu.
