The violinist Linus Roth and the conductor Thomas Sanderling founded the International Weinberg Society with Irina Shostakovitch as the honorary president.
The 250 anniversary of the Patriotic Society of 1765 in Hamburg and the 80th birthday of the composer will be celebrated in Hamburg's St. - George's Church with a jubilee concert.
The Frankfurt Opera premiered its new staging of Mieczyslaw Weinberg's opera The Passenger on 1 March 2015. Beforehand, at a particular event on 28 February 2015, 91-year-old Auschwitz survivor Zofia Posmysz commented on her novella which served as basis for the operas libretto.

Choreographer Ralf Dörnen availed himself entirely of music of Mieczysław Weinberg for his new production of Lew Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. His work selection for the ballet in 2 acts is compiled from Weinberg’s Symphonies No. 5, No. 17 and No. 20 as well as from his concerto for violoncello and orchestra. So for the first time there will be dance to these works.
