Israel Music Institute - Distribution for Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Since January 1, 1998 Peermusic Classical Hamburg represents exclusively the catalogue of the Israel Music Insitute (IMI) for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Israel Music Institute is the only publicly owned publishing house in Israel. It is a non-profit organization supported by the Israel Ministry of Education and Culture.

The Institute was established in 1961 by the Public Committee for Arts and Culture with the aim to publish and promote serious Israeli music in every possible way and by all means available. Since its establishment the IMI has acquired the rights to about 1700 compositions by some 160 Israeli composers. About 75% of the works under IMI copyright have already appeared in print.

Some of the most important composers working and creating in Israel since 1920 such as Josef Tal, Oedoen Partos, Mordecai Seter are among those represented by the IMI. The IMI catalogue presents a great variety of music: orchestral, choral, chamber and educational as well as listing a number of musicological editions. Also, in cooperation with several other public musical institutions in Israel, IMI works in collaboration with the Music in Israel (MII) label in producting CDs of Israeli art music, which are the best promotional tool for the music. To further promote Israeli music, the IMI publishes a comprehensive bulletin which encompass the entire music scene in Israel.
