Theo Loevendie - Celebration of the composer´s 80th birthday

Theo Loevendie´s 80th birthday on September 17 is celebrated in the Netherlands with a selection of concerts starting with a matinée on September 18 in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. On September 23 an all-Loevendie concert takes place at the Muziekgebouw featuring the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble.

More than fifteen years Theo Loevendie was a full-time jazz musician. Today he is an internationally highly acclaimed composer. His work catalogue includes four operas, many chamber and ensemble works and five instrumental concerts. His most famous work is the music tale The Nightingale after Hans-Christian Andersen. With the new text written by the well-known dutch author Kees van Kooten, this work is a great success in the Netherlands. On november 7 the german premiere takes place in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with KiKa moderator Juri Tetzlaff.
